Montacute House

Montacute House was built by Sir Edward Phelips, Speaker of the House of Commons, in 1588 and is one of the finest Elizabethan Houses in the country. This lovely Hamstone house is filled with treasures - especially the Long Gallery which houses an interesting collection on loan from the National Portrait Gallery
